About

My name is Sanneke Zegwaard, I am a goldsmith and jewelry designer based in Amsterdam. In my small studio I focus on creating personal and unique pieces of handmade jewelry.

Ever since I was little I have found great pleasure in surprising others with small handmade gifts and moments of happiness.

Designing and making jewelry to me in essence serves that same purpose: To bring someone joy with a highly personal and unique object, touching their heart and soul.

As a maker I love to create things in many different mediums and materials. Goldsmithing gives me the opportunity to explore new techniques, different materials, and to make use of some of my other creative loves, such as crocheting.

To me, jewelry making is an inexhaustible resource of experimentation and learning, and I highly enjoy it as a means of physical storytelling.

In addition to my academic training in theatre studies and psychology (MA & MSc, both with honors), I pursued my creative dreams in jewelry making by formally training to become a goldsmith.

I believe in learning a craft by both doing and by learning from great teachers who are a master at their craft.

I have attended classes and received training from various professional teachers in a diverse range of jewelry making techniques. The Vakschool Edelsmeden in Amsterdam has played a central role in this education and this is where I currently have also picked up the role of teacher myself. Sharing with others what I have learned over the years.

My work is strongly influenced by the inspiration I get from nature and from the purity and beauty of small ordinary things of life. Most of my pieces are intuitively formed, fed by the fascinating shapes, textures and patterns I might find in the woods or on the beach.

Besides the available pieces on this website it is also possible to order something bespoke. A unique piece of jewelry made for yourself or a loved one. Please contact me to inquire about the possibilities.
